The fine folks at Riverside Art,in Somerset,Ma,have always had a whole bunch of talented folks workinhg there and Miss Gatesman is another fine addition to their staff. She's an outstanding painter,a highly skilled printmaker and a fine sculptor with a definitely unique vision all her own.She cites Jim Dine's negative spaces, Michael Mazure's plate surfaces, everything Goya (especially the dark cynicism), everything Rembrandt, Redon's lithos and subject matter, Diebenkorn's figure drawings, Abstract Expressionist's process, Blake's Romanticism, and Kathe Kollwitz's heart wrenching line among her influences.

She's currently working, with photographer Denn Santoro,on an exhibit called Re-Visions: Explorations in Black & White Painting and Color Photography. They plan on having the full exhibit ready for 2008. However, stay tuned for two preview exhibits in South Main Street: A Visual Exploration at Cherry&Webb Gallery Fall River, MA November 2007 and

When Carol recently sent me her zine entitled simply,NAKED,the attitude of it reminded me of Kim's fine self portrait flipping the bird. They both seem to me to be saying the same thing.

Take me as I am and if you can't handle that, well, this birds'for you!!

I've got mad respect for both of these ladies.
